THE PRESSED FLOWER GARDEN

Instruction books on various aspects of pressing flowers and leaves

by

Anne Stringer

I am sharing my many years of experience in this fascinating hobby throughout the following booklets. The idea of including not only the methods of pressing flowers and leaves to their best advantage, but also including tips on growing the plants required led to the title of

“The Pressed Flower Garden”.

Details of these booklets, which are now available for sale, are shown on the next pages. General enquiries can be made to The Pressed Flower Garden, Poole Farm, Raddington, Somerset, TA4 2QN or e-mail: thepressedflowergarden@btinternet.com

The most gorgeous pictures may be made from pressed flowers and leaves, from a full-blown garden scene, rich arrangements of summer flowers to a simple autumn leaf on a contrasting background.

Pressing flowers is a time-honoured method used by many botanists throughout the centuries for scientific purposes, and indeed, this practice is still carried out by the great horticultural giants such as the Royal Horticultural Society, and Kew Gardens. Pressing flowers was especially popular in the Victorian era, for scientific and sentimental reasons, and has continued it’s appeal to this day.

You may wish to preserve flowers for happy memories, also to make gifts for family and friends. Making pictures, cards, paper weights, bookmarks, window hangers, candles, gift tags, door finger plates, can also be an interesting source of making money by selling them at craft fairs and shops.
